PROJECT: Study of Barriers to Access and Completion (SBAC) on behalf of the LAC Regional
Workforce Development Program
CLIENT: USAID/Latin America and the Caribbean (Subcontract to FHI 360)
MARKET: Guatemala

This project is designed to strengthen the capacity of select two- and three-year tertiary institutions in Guatemala, Honduras and Jamaica, providing market-relevant, quality training to disadvantaged youth for increased employment. It has two objectives:
• Strengthening selected technical institutions by improving curriculum design and
pedagogy, providing professional development for faculty and staff, and enhancing
labor market bridging services to help students find gainful employment after
graduating
• Improving access for disadvantaged students to selected technical programs by
strengthening institutions’ recruiting and admissions practices, and providing local
and US-based scholarships for disadvantaged students showing strong leadership
potential
