Juárez & Associates Awarded Subgrant for the USAID LAC Reads Capacity Program
Los Angeles, CA – December 2014
J&A is an active subgrantee to the American Institutes for Research (AIR), with the objective of improving and sustaining early grade reading across the Americas. The project, called the LAC Reads Capacity Program (LRCP), is a partnership among USAID, AIR, J&A and a strong group of local organizations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean region. Countries specifically targeted by LRCP activities include the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua and Perú, as well as the Eastern Caribbean.
Together, the AIR/J&A team has developed a compelling three-level implementation model with expert program leadership, excellent regional coordinators, and well-connected national partner organizations in the priority countries in the region. This three-level model will enable the project team to deliver the products and assistance envisioned in the LRCP efficiently and responsively, with flexibility and adaptability, to the wide range of contexts and conditions in the region. Most importantly, by developing and implementing activities in close collaboration with regional partners, we maximize the long-term sustainability of the work; therefore its long-term success will not be dependent on our remaining involved.
The heart of the work envisioned in the LRCP is the quality of early grade reading (EGR) research evidence that underpins the project’s dissemination, capacity development and technical assistance activities.
